Dutch People are Cheap – Gezellig Not!

Dutch People are Cheap. The dutch have an tradition of being extremely frugal and somewhat pragmatic. Unfortunately, if you are engaged in any form of monetary transaction (selling), you might experience an annoying cultural byproduct of this cheapness obsession. Compounding matters for foreigners is what appears to be a cultural bias born out of blind nationalism and idiotic xenophobic fear. The rise in extremist right and left wing politics via main stream voter manipulation has created an atmosphere that has become counter to what was once a formerly open and tolerant society. This is shockingly evident in The Netherlands for modern foreigners who attempt to integrate or migrate for various political, social and monetary reasons. Consider, the eccentric Geert Wilders who has successfully cashed in his political chips on Islamophobia, winning 24 seats in the Dutch parliament for his Party for Freedom, which is now the third largest political party in Holland.

Moving on……

I recently (Oct 2013) placed some FREE online ads in various open Facebook groups related to the buying and selling of items from private individuals. These groups are freely created by an individual who may or may not stipulate some general rules or regulations for posting and responding to ads. Incidentally, I find such stipulations rather ludicrous when you consider these groups are hosted for free by Facebook and the owners of such pages do absolutely nothing outside of the initial creation of the page. There is no SEO promotional work, SERPs rankings or paid promotion campaigns or even editing of the ads in terms of placement or content. However, I find it quite odd that some megalomaniac with control issues will actually choose to self moderate one of these FREE groups. You would think based on their antagonistic attitudes and authoritarian stance, these assholes actually coded the site from scratch or paid a developer and monthly hosting fee.

My ad was for a “Winter Care Package” with several new, unused and unopened products from the USA. The ad clearly stated the contents as well as it current state of newness and it’s obvious origin (USA). In addition, the ad was professionally written in concise, clean format in English. Yes, English the once former language of the now bilingual USA.

The original ad stated the following verbatim:

Winter care package from USA – selling everything together for €45 Includes all of the following:

  • Rite Aid 100 Cherry cough drops (sore throat/cough suppressant)
  • Rite Aid 100 Menthol Eucalyptus cough drops (sore throat/cough suppressant)
  • Rite Aid (2) Cherry Flavored Sore Throat spray bottles
  • Chloraseptic (1) Menthol Sore Throat spray bottle
  • EmergenC (1) 1,000MG Vitamin C Box – 30 packs Lemon – Lime Flavor
  • Rite Aid (3) 1,0000MG Vitamin C Box – 30 packs orange Flavor (3 boxes!)

Note: the EmergenC is absolutely the BEST stuff and potent. Soldiers use this and it cuts a cold/flu in half. Pick up in Utrecht. PM if interested. Everything is NEW and unopened with safety seals.

Now what transpired is enough to cast serious doubt regarding the notion of the so-called dutch tolerance and gezellig-ness. I guess this dutch twat, Sarah Notenboom did not get the memo or she obviously harbored some hidden resentment based on the origin (USA) of my items in question but also the fact that it was written in English as opposed to Dutch. Bare in mind that many of the posted ads are written in dutch, however there is also a good balance between both languages depending on the poster.

I pride myself on my innate ability of reading the social nuisances orvibe (Yes, gezellig for you dutch twits) as well as the ensuing reaction in any unspoken communication, virtual included. An obvious side effect of spending a great deal of time online, as evidenced by my self inclined research habits and the continued evolution of this blog.

Dutch People are Cheap

Quick use of Google translate service is enough to easily discern that this dutch twat decided to play posting police by snitching. This is evidenced by the first post “Stond er niet in de regels geen medicijnen Matrija Veenhuysen-Scharff?” No provocation whatsoever on my part, so I have to assume it was due to the origin of my contents (USA) and the language I utilized, English.

It never ceases to amaze me how these dimwits go through daily life without getting a serious verbal smack down or preferably a physical ass kicking. It has to be the annoying anonymity the internet provides. I can not imagine someone so insensitive, rude and antagonistic surviving a single day in real life with that kind of mental disposition. At least this fool had the sense to back off when I sarcastically ended the dialogue. I wonder what the dutch word is for a one dimensional cunt.

It would seem this annoying quality is not strictly related to the indigenous folk, but also recent transplants such as various degrees of exchange and international students. Perhaps something in the water or cheese to make such people indecisive and rather annoying when communicating online.

So sad? More like so fucking lost! Consider the time stamp of the message at 2:31 where this clown goes from a next day pick up to I can’t buy it right now at 2:36. It is no wonder his icon has him standing practically upside down. I would say this basically symbolizes his decision making skills.

And now the simple vanishing act after professing interest and certainty……….

I guess this one actually forgot where she lived…………

I guess the challenge in this case was trying to figure out how mass transit works between The Hague and Utrecht. Regardless it would seem the sovereign debt crisis, coupled with rising unemployment, a housing market crisis and austerity measures would be enough to frazzle the nationalistic and consumer sensibilities of some Dutch and visiting students alike.

I actually had one admit his cheapness was a cultural trait, yet unbeknownst to this ass-clown was his sarcastic trolling of my ad was not welcomed. Still there is always more than one way to deal with these simpletons who obviously have nothing better to do with their precious time.

I guess to much of living in a socialist utopia, afforded old Clod, er, I mean Claude sufficient time to troll ads on Facebook. Interesting that he mentions “Time is money” yet his actions speak otherwise. If time is money, I wonder how much the Dutch government is paying him for sitting on his ass and trolling?

I think Wesley Snipes said it best concerning such individuals in life, which is precisely why I used the quote in my response. Unfortunately that comeback was lost in translation.
